| Customer Reviews: Interesting Bookends May 31, 2008 P. Hampton (Arnold, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased these for my teenage girls. They make a great addition to their book shelves. They are pretty heavy and are much more fun then the boring bookends you usually find.
Great Bookends! April 1, 2008 PES (Houston, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm always on the lookout for different bookends and when I saw these, I put them on my Christmas List. I was very pleased when I received them. They are not only a nice weight so they hold the books very well but they also look really great. I'll definitly be ordering the other, Leaning Man set.
Darn it - I adore their look but they didn't work October 4, 2009 Kath70 (Virginia, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
These bookends are really stylish and I think they are cool and unique.
Unfortunately, they are just impractical for any significant volume of books. They aren't heavy enough and the legs of the "pushing men" aren't sufficiently broad.
I took one of my books out of the stack and when I replaced it the entire stack fell over and one of my poor men fell. Unfortunately, he lost his head. Very sad after I had him for only two weeks. We hardly ever buy stylish homewares like this and I was quite upset, even though I know it was solely my own fault as I had already judged the bookends to be too light for the application I bought them for.
My husband is going to try to glue the head back on and we are planning on buying some cheap metal bookends to glue to the "wall" of this set of bookends. That way, we get a strong set of bookends with some fun styling.
The bookends arrived safely and quickly. I really do love them and am hoping our fix will allow them to be used and not relegated to becoming a decoration on the shelf. (Well, one of them anyway)
My only comment is that the two men are exactly identical. I think this is a little bizzare as it means that one will always look away. That is obvious from the picture! It is just not something I really noticed until they arrived. Somehow I would have expected the two men to be mirror images so they can both look out from the bookshelf.
arrived chipped! February 22, 2010 Laura A. Albert (Abingdon, Maryland USA) When the package arrived, I was dismayed to see how flimsy the packaging was (heavy bookends in thin cardboard surrounded by thin styrofoam) Therefore, I wasn't surprised to see that there was indeed a chip on one of the bookends. The company I ordered them from through Amazon was very nice about sending me a label to return them, but it seems as though the whole inconvenience could have been avoided by packaging them properly in the first place. Also-I think if I order them again, there is a high chance these bookends will be damaged as well!
I still think they look cool-and quality of product is as expected.
Not heavy enough October 3, 2009 T. Springer 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We have been trying to find bookends that could hold up a series of tall picture books and large-sized kids books on their shelves, who would guess how hard it is to find them, at stores and on line? I bought these this September, 2009, and they do NOT hold up more than 7-8 books without falling. My sons love the design, but I regret I bought these.
